Resolution - how many ppi?

Leuku's pictures are either scanned using high resolution professional film scanners or they are digital files from professional digital cameras.

The 300 ppi is something of a myth. In most cases a resolution of 200 ppi is quite adequate. Somewhere between 240 ppi and 300 ppi produces the highest possible quality in a standard offset coated paper printing environment.

Should you require a Leuku image for purposes other than the standard sizes available, then we can prepare the files for you from the originals at the time of your order and arrange delivery.

Most of Leuku's images are already archived in 60MB files for large image size requirements.

Interpolation

Our high quality pictures can easily be enlarged up to 200% without any significant loss in quality.

These days print houses are moving to filmless plate technology as well as changing from line screening to stocastic screening. This basically means that picture quality suffers less from resizing that it used to.

In this example a 16MB file is resized about 150% bigger than the orginal dimensions by checking the Resample Image check box in Photoshops Image Size dialogue box with Bicubic Smoother selected.

If you feel it necessary to sharpen the image it is always best to this after the image has been sized to its final destination dimensions.

For best results avoid resizing the images in layout programs such as
InDesign and Quark Express.
